I am currently reading "The Foundation Trilogy" by Isaac Asimov, and am therefore full of thoughts about the broad sweep of history and the forces that pull it one way or another. I am also, of course, quite excited by your post, because it lays out so clearly and co convincingly the nature of the forces at play in this election. I have always struggled with the question of what the role of great individuals in history is. After all, War and Peace seems to suggest that the individual is but a rivulet in the river of history, a rivulet whose importance is washed away by the waves surrounding it. Yet you seem to suggest that great leaders alter history; and I am inclined to believe that. Indeed, even if I lacked evidence to bolster my belief, I would believe it all the same: for life would not seem worth living to me were there no room for heroism on the part of enlightened individuals. . .

In short, your post is greatly appreciated, and leaves me thinking. After all, this election is FAR, FAR too close for comfort, and far close than it should be. Will we see another Gore V Bush in the Supreme Court? For the sake of the world, and the goodness of life and biology, I hope not. . .Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09124089181201408152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334849659163883527.post-14887759572551618912008-09-07T12:13:00.000-07:002008-09-07T12:13:00.000-07:00Thanks actve, I checked out the site and put the l...Thanks actve, I checked out the site and put the link in my sidebar. I enjoyed the article about using the fisher-tropf process with wind power to reclaim CO2 and store energy as hydrocarbon fuels. Makes sense to me -- it could bring an age of carbon-neutral hydrocarbons without having to use "food for fuel". Cool stuff.T.H.
